Welcome!

Hello!  Thank you for checking out my blog!

My name is Robyn, allow me to introduce myself...
I was born and raised on a farm in a small southern Alberta town, where we raised cattle and harvested in the fall.  For most of my childhood, I was known as the "fat kid".  I grew up thinking that breakfast meant a doughnut or leftover pizza, and steak and mashed potatoes were requirements in at least one meal a day.  Needless to say, I had zero knowledge on food or their nutritional value.

It was in December of 2008 when the scale tipped at an all time high of 190lbs, I was 20 years old!  I was fresh out of college with my Criminal Justice Diploma and in the worst physical shape of my life.  When no police departments even considered me, it motivated me to get myself together.

I tried many yo-yo diets, losing weight but only to put more on.  I tried Herbalife, which helped me to lose nearly 30lbs by March of 2009 and was able to keep it off.  In October of 2009 I started Powerlifting.  I competed at local meets, provincial events, and even National championships, right up until June 2010.

It was in June of this year that I started training for my first figure competition, not knowing what to expect or what the heck to do!  My mission going into this competition was to go on stage with a bunch of girls and simply blend in, not stand out as the "heifer" on stage.  I needed to build my self confidence, and PROVE TO MYSELF that I am in fact beautiful, and full of potential.

Now, today I am writing my first COMMIT TO BE FIT blog and I am ecstatic to inform all of you that I succeeded in my goal!  I made my appearance on that stage, in front of hundreds of people, in a tiny article of clothing, and I blended in!!

The journey that i have experienced while training for my first figure competition has been the biggest life changing and educational one of my life!  This experience has taught me that it is not a diet, it is simply a lifestyle change!

I have so many people to thank for helping me achieve my goal, and I am inspired by each and every one of them!  I have created this blog to help motivate you in your fitness goals, as many of these other people have done for me. It helps knowing that there are other people that have gone through what you are going through, and that you are not the only crazy person licking the bowl clean after your morning oatmeal!

I hope you find this blog helpful, motivational, and educational!
